Hotels across the United Arab Emirates have reported high occupancy rates during the Eid Al Fitr holiday period, driven by strong demand from domestic tourism. Beach resorts and hotels near shopping centers in various emirates have seen particularly robust bookings, according to hotel managers and industry executives. This surge in hotel occupancy reflects a growing preference among residents for domestic travel options during holiday periods.

Last-minute bookings significantly contributed to increased occupancy levels, coinciding with promotional pricing offered by hotels for family stays. Many families opted to spend the holiday in leisure settings with flexible accommodation experiences, according to hotel officials.

Domestic Tourism Drives Hotel Occupancy Growth

Data from Wego, an online travel and hotel booking marketplace, revealed a substantial increase in hotel bookings by UAE residents across the country during the Eid Al Fitr holiday. The platform reported a notable rise in hotel searches, with strong demand for four and five-star beach resorts, wellness retreats, and luxury hotels throughout the emirates.

Luxury beach resorts in various emirates topped the list of most searched options before the holiday. Properties offering private beaches, spacious suites, family-friendly facilities, and distinctive dining experiences attracted the most interest, according to the data. Additionally, wellness and relaxation-focused accommodations experienced growing attention from travelers seeking comprehensive spa and wellness amenities.

Full Occupancy at Major Properties

Iftikhar Hamdani, Regional General Manager at Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel and Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, confirmed that both properties reached 100 percent occupancy during the Eid holiday. This reflects a strong preference among residents for domestic tourism options, he noted.

The trend highlights a clear preference among UAE residents for booking hotel stays at nearby, convenient destinations that offer complete leisure experiences for families and individuals. Hotels featured family-oriented touches such as children’s face painting and henna designs that add a distinctive festive atmosphere. However, this pattern underscores the resilience of the local market, where guests continue seeking comfort, familiar services, and high-quality hospitality experiences within the UAE.

Innovative Offers Attract Guests

Hossam Kamal, General Manager of Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Residence, reported strong hotel occupancy during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, driven by interest in offers combining prime location with comprehensive experiences. The hotel recorded increased inquiries and early bookings, reflecting the appeal of stay packages with full credit value on food and beverages among residents seeking flexible accommodation and good value.

Meanwhile, hotels are focusing on delivering flexible and innovative stay experiences that meet visitor expectations for accommodations combining relaxation with diverse offerings. Kamal emphasized connecting stays with dining experiences, allowing guests to utilize booking value across multiple food and beverage options within the hotel, enhancing the overall guest experience.

These initiatives align with growing demand for flexible offers, particularly in prime destinations like Jumeirah Beach Residence. The area combines a distinctive location with sea views and proximity to major landmarks such as Ain Dubai, according to hotel executives.

Flexible Check-in Models Enhance Guest Experience

Raafat Kouta, General Manager of IKOS Al Furjan and Coral Deira Dubai, emphasized that Eid Al Fitr represents a special occasion bringing people together for celebration. The hotel offered complete autonomy through a 24-hour stay model, giving guests freedom to manage their time away from conventional logistical constraints.

In contrast to traditional hospitality models based on fixed check-in and check-out times, which no longer meet evolving modern traveler expectations, the goal is delivering a festive experience characterized by flexibility and innovation. This approach addresses changing preferences in the accommodation sector.

Market Trends Point to Quality Staycations

Craig Hewett, Co-founder and Chief Hotels Officer at Wego, noted a marked increase in hotel searches within the country via the platform ahead of the Eid Al Fitr holiday. Many residents chose to spend the holiday within the Emirates, with confidence in the country’s efforts to provide a safe environment strengthening guest trust and increasing demand for local resorts and domestic accommodations.

This increase reflects a broader shift toward high-quality short breaks, where many UAE residents are reconsidering long-distance travel plans and choosing to holiday within the country. Wego data indicates travelers increasingly focus on ease, comfort, and privacy, with clear interest in destinations allowing families and small groups to relax without international travel complications.

Industry observers expect this domestic tourism trend to continue in coming months, though hotels have not confirmed whether similar occupancy levels will extend beyond the immediate holiday period.
