الفلم الوثائقي «إـ///ــلام طفولتي» L’Islam de mon enfance هو رحلة عودة تواجه مباشرة الصراع بين الدين والعلمانية في الجزائر المعاصرة. تقوم فيه منتجة الأفلام نادية زواوي عند عودتها إلى وطنها بعد سنوات من غربتها في كندا باستذكار البيئة الروحانية المرهفة التي نشأت فيها، وتمحص «العشرية المظلمة»، عقد الظلام في تسعينات القرن العشرين، الذي استسلمت فيه الجزائر لأسوأ أشكال القمع الحكومي وأعتى صور الإررهاب الإـ///ــلاموي. كانت تلك الحرب الأهلية نذيرًا بالصراعات الوحشية التي وقعت لاحقًا في مصر وسوريا في مطلع الألفية، وقد خلفت تلك الحرب وراءها 200000 ضحية وأرغمت الآلاف على الفرار.
نستمع في الفلم لشهادات مواطنين جزائريين، لا سيما من منطقة الأمازيغ القبايلية وهم يسردون تجاربهم ومقاومتهم خلال تلك العشرية. ويقول أحد هؤلاء: «أنا لا أهاجم الإـ///ــلام؛ إنما هو من يهاجم حرياتي».
يستعرض الفلم الطبيعة الجبلية الخلابة للجزائر ممزوجة بموسيقى محلية معبرة، وينسج عرضًا لتقارير إخبارية مع العديد من المقابلات، مظهرًا شجاعة الناس العاديين الذين وجدوا أنفسهم عالقين بين الإيديولوجيا الخانقة للديكتاتورية السياسية من جهة، والتجاوزات الإجرامية للأصولية الدينية من جهة أخرى، وهم أثناء ذلك يفحصون المعنى العميق للإيمان وروابط الحياة العلمانية.
“Islam of My Childhood” is a journey of return that confronts head-on the struggle between faith and secularism in contemporary Algeria. Returning to her native land after years in Canada, filmmaker Nadia Zouaoui recalls the graceful spiritual environment she grew up in and interrogates the “dark decade” of the 1990s when Algeria succumbed to the worst of state repression and Islamist terrorism. This civil war, a precursor of brutal conflicts in Egypt and Syria in the 2000s, left nearly 200,000 victims and forced thousands to flee. We hear the testimony of Algerian citizens, especially from the Amazigh-Kabyle or Berber region, who recount their experiences and acts of resistance.
As one says, “I’m not attacking Islam; it’s attacking my freedoms.”
Showing the mountainous beauty of Algeria and infused with evocative regional music, the film combines found news footage with myriad interviews, revealing the courage of ordinary people caught between the suffocating ideology of political dictatorship, on the one hand, and the increasingly murderous excesses of religious fundamentalism, on the other, as they examine the deep meaning of faith and the bonds of secular life.
