The concept of democracy does not really resonate with primitive minds. Simple people seem to identify more with the idea of a dominant alpha-male; he rules, they obey – simple and straightforward. We see manifestations of this in primate societies, in Middle-Eastern countries, and in some Amazon tribes.
Recently, seventy four million Americans expressed their preference for an alpha-male-dominated system with Trump on top. (They don’t mind playing the democracy game, but if it doesn’t give them that, then screw it!)
In the Arabian Peninsula if a person has a request or a grievance, he goes straight to the dominant alpha-male, the king or the emir. In Egypt when a person has a problem, no matter how insignificant, (like water service or a traffic ticket,) he doesn’t bother with the sprawling state apparatus, but instinctively appeals straight to the supreme alpha-male, “His Excellency the President of the Republic …”
The Arab Spring of 2010 appeared to be an uprising against despotism. Curiously, all monarchies were spared, and only “elected” despots were toppled. No reasonable person would argue that the Saudi king was any less despotic than Mubarak, but people seemed to draw a distinction between an alpha-male licensed by God, (a king or a Caliph) and one installed by people, (a president.) In their minds a hereditary alpha-male is more legitimate than an upstart.
We see some semblance of that mindset in Trump’s supporters. Many of them are receptive to the idea that Trump’s children should some day reclaim “the throne”. And if people don’t elect them, it is because the counting of votes is screwed up.

On the other hand: Hitler was also democratically elected by majority, as was the National Socialist party. Where or what is the line, if any? A democratically elected dictator, where do they fall?
Trump’s children reclaiming the throne!!! Are you serious? Do really some of his supporters think that one day any of this totally corrupt family that belong behind bars can be at any point in the White House?
The Idea of the fair Dictator or Patriarch is deeply implanted in the ideology of societies , I can understand it in less developed countries like Saudi Arabia where the king is the Father and owner of people but in a country like USA with best education in the advanced World to fight for an Ignorant Alpha like Trump is very odd, I believe the religious Opium was used widely between his supporters.
The main cause is the prevailing ignorance everywhere.
