وقال إعلام شرطة كربلاء في بيان تلقت السومرية نيوز نسخة منه، إنه "مدينة كربلاء المقدسة استيقضت صباح اليوم الخميس على جريمة مروعة وهي قيام أب بقتل أبنائه الأربعة حرقاً بمادة البنزين بسبب خلافات عائلية مع زوجته".
وأضاف، أنه "بعد حصول الحادث بقضاء الحر في حي العسكري ونتيجة لخطورة الحادث وأهميته وجه قائد شرطة كربلاء المقدسة اللواء احمد علي زويني بتشكيل فريق عمل لكشف ملابسات الحادث"، مبيناً أنه "تم إلقاء القبض على المتهم واصطحابه الى مركز شرطة حي العسكري لإكمال التحقيق معه".
وتابع، أنه "بعد التحقيق مع الشخص القاتل عن أسباب الجريمة اعترف بوجود خلافات عائلية مع زوجته كونها تريد الطلاق منه وبعدها تركت الدار، ثم قام الجاني بغلق الباب على أولاده وهم أبنه الكبير وعمره 13 عاماً وبناته وأعمارهن ( 11 و 6 و 3 أعوام ) أثناء نومهم، وبعد ذلك قام برش مادة البنزين في الغرفة وحرقهم مما أدى لوفاتهم جميعاً".
وأشار البيان، إلى أن "الجاني والدهم هو من مواليد 1969 وزوجته مواليد 1973، صدقت اعترافات المتهم ابتدائياً وقضائياً وسيتم إحالته الى القضاء بعد اكتمال مراحل التحقيق لينال جزاءه العادل".
